A note from our founder

I started Thryvera after watching too many people move between rushed visits and generic product advice. Skin is more personal than that. Care should be too.

How It Works

Four steps. One face.

You write it. A clinician reads it. A pharmacist prepares it. A local courier delivers it.

  1. Medical intake

A clinical intake reviewed by your prescriber. Face photos, your skin history, allergies, current routines, prior prescriptions — and identity verification so the script carries your real name.

    Reviewed by a licensed clinician
  2. Clinical review

A NY-licensed clinician reviews your intake, asks follow-ups if needed, and writes a personalized prescription.

  3. Compounded for you

A licensed compounding pharmacy mixes your formula by hand the week it’s prescribed — made for your skin, never pulled from a shelf.

  4. Delivered & supported

Hand-delivered to your Manhattan door after dispensing. Message your care team anytime.

Why Thryvera

The middle road between shelf care and a separate office visit.

Physician-guided

Every prescription is written by a NY-licensed clinician — not an algorithm, not a survey. Personally reviewed, not auto-approved.

Prescription active ingredients

Compounded by a licensed pharmacy at prescriber-selected strengths — not an OTC cosmetic routine.

One face per formula

Five evening formulas and five AM + PM duos — formulated to your skin, your tolerance, your concern. Not a one-size SKU.

Inside the formulas

Prescription actives, selected for your skin.

Every Thryvera formula begins with a prescription tretinoin backbone. Your clinician may layer in additional actives based on your intake, skin goals, and tolerance.

Tretinoin0.025%
Cell turnover

A prescription retinoid used in acne care and some photoaging regimens. Your clinician decides whether it is appropriate for your skin.

Niacinamide4%
Barrier · oil control

A vitamin B3 derivative commonly used to support skin-barrier comfort and tolerability in multi-active formulas.

Azelaic Acid10–15%
Tone · rosacea

A topical acid your clinician may select for acne, rosacea-prone skin, or pigment concerns when clinically appropriate.

Hydroquinone4%
Pigment correction

A prescription skin-lightening ingredient that may be selected for melasma or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation when clinically appropriate.

4-month maximum · 2-month break required
Tranexamic Acid3%
Pigment · redness

An ingredient sometimes used in pigment-focused regimens; selected only when your clinician considers it appropriate.

Peptide Complex1%
Firmness

A supportive cosmetic ingredient used for skin feel and appearance. It is not the prescription driver in the formula.

Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. Each formula is personalized by your licensed prescriber based on your medical intake.

In their words

How it has felt to be heard.

Patient experience reflections, shared with permission. Individual experiences may vary; testimonials do not constitute medical claims.

The first thing my clinician asked was how I felt about my skin — not what I’d already tried. That single question is everything I’ve ever wanted from a derm visit and never gotten.

What to expect

A realistic timeline, set by your clinician.

Prescription skincare works on biology, not marketing cycles. Here’s the honest range most patients see with the actives we prescribe — your clinician will narrow it to your skin.

Weeks 1–3
Adjust

Mild dryness, flaking, or transient breakouts as your skin acclimates. Expected, not a failure — message your clinician if it’s sharp.

Weeks 4–8
Texture

Smoother surface, fewer fresh breakouts, less reactive skin. Tretinoin- and azelaic-based formulas usually move first here.

Weeks 8–12+
Pigment

Tone evens out. Post-acne marks, melasma, and sun damage fade gradually — this is the slow lane and worth the wait.

Questions, answered

Common questions.

Yes. Every Thryvera formula is a compounded prescription medication, written by a NY-licensed clinician and dispensed by a licensed compounding pharmacy. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved as a class — your clinician is responsible for the personalized formulation.

Over-the-counter retinols are cosmetic products. Thryvera formulas may include prescription tretinoin and other clinician-selected actives when appropriate for your skin, tolerance, and treatment goals.

Your card is tokenized at intake and a temporary authorization for the full first 60-day total is placed when you submit your review. Nothing is charged until your clinician approves the prescription, at which point the authorization captures as your first treatment and delivery. If your clinician decides Thryvera isn’t right for you, the authorization is released in full.

No separate fee. A $20 clinical consultation is included inside your plan total — not added on top. If your clinician can’t approve care, the entire authorization (plan total included) is released and nothing settles to your card.

Refills are billed automatically every 60 days at the price shown on your plan card — Mono refills at $118–$128, Duo refills at $148–$178 depending on actives. You’ll receive an email seven days before each refill is prepared. Pause, skip, or cancel anytime from your account before compounding starts.

If your formula is not a good fit after a fair trial, your clinician can review your case for a no-cost reformulation when clinically appropriate. Compounded prescriptions can’t be returned for a refund once prepared, but support can help route concerns to the right team.

Response timing varies by person, condition, formula, and adherence. Your clinician will set realistic expectations during your initial consultation and can adjust treatment if your skin is not tolerating it.

Message your clinician right away. If a reformulation is needed, it’s free. We expect a normal adjustment period; we don’t expect you to suffer through it alone.

After clinical approval and pharmacy preparation, Thryvera routes Manhattan orders by local courier. Delivery updates appear in your portal when available. Thryvera is currently Manhattan only; we do not ship outside the borough.

Yes. There’s no subscription lock-in or cancellation fee. Pause for a season, skip a refill, or stop entirely — all from your account. Your medical records and active prescription remain available to you on your dashboard.

No. Tretinoin and hydroquinone are contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Your intake will flag this; your clinician will not write a prescription if you’re pregnant, nursing, or actively trying to conceive.

Both contain hydroquinone 4%, which carries a risk of ochronosis with prolonged continuous use. Thryvera requires a 4-month-on / 2-month-off cycle for these formulas as a clinical safety rule.

Compounded medications are typically not covered by insurance. Thryvera’s pricing is the all-in cost — no separate visit fee, no co-pay surprise. We can provide a superbill for HSA / FSA reimbursement.
